What is a Memsmo?

A Memsmo is a shared collection of memories about one person, event, or moment — a birthday, a wedding, a trip, a retirement, a year together. You invite the people who were there. They add photos, short stories, and quotes. When you launch it, the person you made it for opens it and can explore everything together: the memories themselves, what Memsmo discovered in them, games built from them, and keepsakes made from them.

Creating your first Memsmo

From My Memsmos, choose to start a new Memsmo. Give it a title — this is what the recipient sees first — and say who it is for. You can add a cover image at any time before launching. The cover image is the centerpiece of the opening moment, so pick something that sets the tone. Nothing is visible to the recipient until you launch, so you can take as long as you need.

The stages of a Memsmo

A Memsmo moves through a few simple stages. While it is collecting, you invite contributors and memories come in. When you are ready, you launch it and the recipient gets their link. After launch, the Memsmo becomes an experience the recipient can revisit at any time — the memories do not disappear.

Inviting contributors

Accepted Answer

From your Memsmo, open the contributors area and send invitations. Each contributor gets their own private link. Contributors do not need a Memsmo account. They open the link, add what they remember, and they are done. You can share the same invitation link by text or any other way you like — it works the same.

A contributor didn't get their invitation

Accepted Answer

Ask them to check their spam or promotions folder first — invitations often land there. If it still hasn't arrived, check the email address on the invitation for typos and send it again. You can also copy the invitation link and send it to them directly.

A contributor's link isn't working

Accepted Answer

Invitation links are private and tied to one Memsmo. Make sure the whole link was copied — some apps break long links across lines. If the Memsmo has already been launched, collection may be closed and the link will no longer accept new memories. If the link still fails, send us a support request and include the Memsmo title.

What can I add to a Memsmo?

Three kinds of memory: photos, short written stories, and quotes — something someone actually said. You can add as many as you like. Short is fine. A single sentence and one photo is a real contribution.

A photo won't upload

Accepted Answer

Large photos can take a while on a slow connection — give it a moment before retrying. If a photo repeatedly fails, try a different one to see whether it's that specific file. Screenshots of photos usually upload fine as a workaround. If uploads fail across the board, sign out and back in (or reopen your invitation link) and try again.

Attributing a quote to the right person

Accepted Answer

When you add a quote, you can name the person who said it. That name is what appears with the quote everywhere it shows up, including on keepsakes. This is separate from who contributed the memory — you get credit for adding it, and the speaker gets credit for saying it.

Editing or removing a memory

Accepted Answer

While a Memsmo is still collecting, contributors can edit or remove what they added from their own invitation link. As the host, you can review everything that has come in from your Memsmo. If something needs removing after launch, send us a support request with the Memsmo title and we'll help.

How launching works

Launching closes collection and creates the recipient's private link. The recipient opens it and is taken through a short opening moment before arriving at their Memsmo. Before you launch, it's worth previewing the opening so you know exactly what they'll see. Launch when it feels ready — there is no deadline.

Previewing the opening before you launch

Accepted Answer

You can preview the arrival, your opening message, and the dedication exactly as the recipient will experience them. The cover image is the centerpiece of that moment, so preview after setting it.

Sending the Memsmo to the recipient

Accepted Answer

After launch you get a private recipient link. Share it however feels right — message, email, or in person on their phone. The link doesn't expire. They can come back to it whenever they want.

What Discover shows you

Accepted Answer

Discover surfaces what the memories have in common — the people who come up again and again, recurring places and moments, and the threads that run through everything contributors shared. It is built from the memories themselves. The more that gets contributed, the more there is to find.

Discover looks empty or thin

Accepted Answer

Discover needs material to work with. With only a handful of memories there may not be enough repetition for people or threads to emerge yet. Adding more memories — especially stories and quotes that name people and places — gives Discover more to find.

Which games are included

Accepted Answer

Every Memsmo can include Crossword, Word Search, Memory Match, and Trivia — all built from the memories that were contributed to that specific Memsmo. They are meant to be played together. There is no score to beat and no timer.

A game clue or answer looks wrong

Accepted Answer

Games are generated from what contributors wrote, so an odd clue usually traces back to how a memory was phrased. If something is genuinely wrong or uncomfortable, send us a support request naming the Memsmo and the game, and we'll look at it.

A game won't load or start

Accepted Answer

Refresh the page first — games build from the memory set and occasionally need a second attempt. A game also needs enough material to be built. Very small Memsmos may not be able to generate every game type.

How Create works

Create turns memories into physical keepsakes. Pick a product, choose the photos and quotes you want on it, and the composer shows you how it will look. You can save a design and come back to it. Saving does not buy anything.
